SkateLeft
My daughter took the PLAN test in 10th grade, in order to qualify to Minnesota's PSEO (dual-enrollment) program. I don't really have any advice though! She didn't study for it at all. :D
Sunshine State Sue
Ds took the PLAN in 10th grade only because he was taking 2 classes at the PS and every 10th grader took it. He did not prepare for it. He had already taken the ACT after 9th grade and scored reasonably well (26). In fact, the results estimated that he would score 26-30 on his ACT. When he took it after 10th grade, he scored 31. So much for the estimate.
clementine
Thank you for your responses. My dd is taking it for PSEO entrance next fall and it can qualify as her annual test for our state. I wasn't sure if she should do a little studying, but I think I'll just let her take it & see where she stands. Much appreciated! :)
creekland
My guy took it at school without studying for it. If it's a first test for a student it tends to be best if they don't study as that then lets you know where any gaps (or strong points) might be. The PLAN isn't as stressful as there's no scholarship attached to it that I'm aware of. The PSAT can be different for some kids. I'll know when Oct ACT scores come out whether the PLAN was an accurate predictor for my guy or not.

tex-mex
I heard there is a career placement test with the PLAN. Is this true?

Amy in CO
My dd just got her ACT scores and her PLAN estimate of her ACT score was good. She scored at the upper end of the estimate.
EKS
My son took it last spring. He did not specifically prepare for it and was (very) pleasantly surprised by how well he did. I will be interested to see how well it predicts ACT scores.
