mommyofcb Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I have had a difficult time finding quality Christian books to read to my 2 year old boy and my 3 1/2 year old girl. Any suggestions? If you have any suggestions, will you please also include where I might be able to purchase them? Quote
Melinda S in TX Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Mine really like the Little Jewel books. http://www.rodandstaffbooks.com/list/Christian_Storybooks/ Melinda S in TX Quote
Sue G in PA Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 We love all the Max Lucado children's books. We also have many board books like The Story of Easter, The Story of Christmas, etc. There are many in that "series". We've enjoyed the Hermie the Caterpillar series as well. Wow, there are so many! You can find these on http://www.cbd.com if you don't have a Christian bookstore nearby (like Lifeway or something). Quote
PeterPan Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Kenneth Taylor has a number of different picture bibles, story bibles, etc. that are WONDERFUL. Beyond that, I read nursery rhymes by the HOUR to my dd at that age. It builds their ear for phonemic differences (rhyming, syllables, sounds, rhythm) and is good preparation for reading. Then, when she was about 3 I started reading her longer stuff like the Lang Fairy Tales. I'd sit on a blanket and read to her while she played in the yard. Develops their attention span and vocabulary so they recognize words as they learn to read. I also got her lots of books on tape, things like Narnia, Charlotte's Web, etc. That way the language immersion continued even when I couldn't. :) Quote
TheJoyfulMom Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I second the Little Jewel books. We really enjoy them. Quote

mom2g2b Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 My dd enjoyed Miss Fannie's Hat by Jan Karon. We also liked the Chicken Soup for Little Souls books. Some of the titles are "The Never Forgotten Doll," "Best Night Out with Dad," and "Della Birthday Girl." I read the books "The Princess and the Kiss" and "The Squire and the Scroll" as well.
