kfeusse
how often or for how long do you have your children (grade 3 and up) read outloud?
thescrappyhomeschooler
Usually, I have them read to me from our history or science books 2 or 3 times a week. Occasionally, I'll have them read a poem or part of a story out loud as well. My kids are strong readers, though, so they don't really need that much practice. Cassy
DS8 reads aloud to me for around 20 minutes twice a day during the week, once a day at the weekend. DS8 is dyslexic and has to work quite hard at reading, despite this he enjoys reading to me so I encourage it all I can.

Jen in PA
Around once a week (less in summer, more once we are stuck inside in cold weather) we have "readers' tea" where we all take turns reading to each other. The dc pick what they want to read to me, and I choose something short -- poetry, a short story, or a news article -- that I wouldn't usually do as one of our read-alouds. Oh, and we have tea and treats to go along with the reading. :D
2squared
Mine don't in 3rd grade. Both have been strong readers. They do read picture books to younger sibs.
