mommylawyer
Do you use ETC 1 (and 1 1/2) for first grade reading level? ETC 2 for second, and so on? Thanks for the input!
abbeyej
No, the first three are roughly for use in K or 1st grade, the next three are for use in 1st or 2nd grade, and the last two for somewhere in 2nd or 3rd. Oh, and the halves are just extra practice for the previous level... Some kids need 'em, some don't.
bkpan
No. It is loosely graded Books 1-3 for first gr., 4-6 for second gr. and 7-8 for third, I believe. The 1/2 levels are only necessary if your dc needs extra practice at that level. HTH! Kim
mommylawyer
Thank you! I thought that the 4-6 books seem relatively simple for a fourth through 6th grader, but wasn't sure! Thanks for helping!
kailuamom
I have just let my kids go through them at their own pace and, since they actually like to do them, they go/have gone quickly. But, like the other posters said, you don't just do one a year. I found that 1, 3 & 3 went well with the OPGTR in helping them to read. My dd only went up to 6 because at that time she was really reading well.
abbeyej
Yes, I agree with Deborah... I gave the rough guidelines, but we simply used them when the kids were ready for them. Both of my kids were reading well (and spelling relatively well for their ages) before we finished the series, and we gave it up before completely all the books.
