Farrar
I was sweeping and doing a little spot cleaning on the floors today and feeling that they have really seen better days. If you have older hardwood floors, how often do you refinish them? What other care do you do? I used to use special cleaner on them a couple times a year, but it's way overdue, in part because I didn't feel like it was making much of a difference as compared to just sweeping and doing a little spot cleaning like I did today. Is there something in between cleaning them with wood oil stuff and having them refinished? Waxing, maybe? I'm clearly a hardwood floor idiot, but I really don't know. What do other people do? Farrar
Huh. And that works? Anyone else tried it?
melmichigan
I haven't tried it yet, but many older family members assure me that it works great, it's how they did it. Many reputable sites discuss it so I am willing to give it a try, check out ehow and DIY network for directions.
Perry
Avoid the oil stuff- it's terrible for your floors. I use Bona. It's terrific. But if the finish is worn down, there really isn't anything you can use to make them look great.
