Guest texas
How many pages of reading do your children have per week in high school? How do you deal with vast amounts of reading? My daughter is taking online classes and although she's aware she has time management issues, she has been struggling to keep up with them without adding in other classes. She desperately wants to add at least her foreign language to her current classes. We'd like to get an idea of how much other high schoolers find reasonable to read in order to get an idea of whether it's her reading speed/study skills that need work or if it's an issue with too much of a workload. regentrude
I do not find pages per week a meaningful measure. DD read Franny and Zoey by Salinger in one evening on Tuesday, 200 pages. But she would definitely not read 200 pages of her physics textbook per night, or even per week. Reading x pages in her French grammar take substantially less time than reading and translating the same number of pages of the Count of Monte Christo, for the same class. So, I am not entirely sure how to answer your question.
Rain
We do a Charlotte Mason/literature type program (a combo of Ambleside and our own choices) and dd does about 150 pages/week. None of it is textbook, which would significantly change the count (it's a lot easier to read 20 pages of Lord of the Rings or She-Wolves than 20 pages of physics, like regentrude said). Guest joylessons
For me I don't pay much attention on how many pages, but for as you know that your child get the complete thoughts of what you are reading.
