momto2Cs
My ds11 is very interested in basic physics, so I am looking for a good, readable book on the subject, without tons of math. Preferably secular. I figure I'll get a Janice VanCleave book on projects, but I want something to enrich that approach. Thanks!
Deee
The Way things Work by David MacAulay. Stunning pictures, funny text, thoroughly engrossing (and I really hate physics!!!!). D
lisabees
Maybe these will work? Touch This! Conceptual Physics for Everyone by Paul Hewitt For the Love of Physics by Walter Lewin (popular MIT professor) Manga Guide To Physics I should add the series we are using as a "spine". An 11 year old would love it. Stop Faking It Series Edited September 21, 2012 by lisabees

lisabees
Not a book, but Physics in Your Life from the Teaching Company is very good. It was on sale recently and may still be! ;)
dbmamaz
Excuse me if i posted this on your other post - i lose track - but Joy Hakim's Story of Science is a 3-part history of math, astronomy and physics. Very readable. It is more biography-based, but still covers the science.
