bttrflyvld
I have become the grateful recipient of many items for homeschool. One of which was a huge set of MUS manipulatives (block set). I don't plan on using MUS but thought I'd see what other uses or math programs I could use these with. Any ideas? I'm sure there is some educational use for them. I think I saw a while back a free printable that used cuisenaire rods to form the alphabet. You'd use them like shape block pictures. I wonder if I could use the MUS blocks for the same ones. Anyone seen that site? (I can't find it) Any ideas for what I could use them for?
Sew happily ever after
I'll take them off your hands if you are looking to get rid of them!!!!! My ds age 7 LOVES to just play and build with them. Other than that they are pretty specific to MUS.

Just about all basic math concepts (counting, building numbers, one to one correspondence, adding, subtracting, regrouping (adding and subtracting), comparing numbers, etc. I use them a lot and don't always teach them the mathusee way. HappyGrace
Check out this amazing website by Rosie from these boards: can't link you but google Education Unboxed. It has wonderful video lessons in order and you can use those blocks to do them (although she uses Cuisinaire rods but yours will work fine.) Your kids are a perfect age for this! bethben
I use them for Singapore math. They work great for explaining complex addition and subtraction problems. i use them instead of the placement disks suggested in the Singapore math book. BatmansWife
Well, you already have a base 10 block set in there....the red hundreds, the blue tens, and the green ones. You can use all of them for counting, comparing........put a pink along the side of a blue....how many do we need to add to the pink 3 to equal the blue 10? We have them, but don't use MUS anymore.
