My body is prepared for the end of the world

and when you are all starving to death and scrounging for food, I will be fine. I think I could survive on ten almonds a day and not even lose weight in the process.

How does anyone go on a dairy free, gluten free, grain free, peanut free, legume free, sugar free diet and not lose weight? Seriously

I knew that I wasn't an over eater and that my metabolism was messed up, but I just want to cry.

There, you may now return to your chatting. Thanks for letting me vent.

As I understand, if you aren't getting enough calories, your body goes into starvation mode and will hang on to the stored fat. So you may want to check to see if you're getting enough.

Another pitfall when dieting, is beverages. I don't know what you drink, but for ME, I have to cut my iced coffees out completely.

I know just how you feel...ok, I have lost almost 100 lbs....BUT, it has taken me 12 YEARS!!!!!

This summer I added som pretty hefty exercise on my already scant eating and pretty active lifestyle...

I have lost a big 3 lbs since July....sigh. But, I figure if I keep on this track, I may hit my goal weight by the time I am 70:D. I am going to be one HOT 70 year old.....:001_huh:

 Thank you. I needed the laugh and I actually find it very encouraging. My mom went on the Whole 30 diet 2 months ago and has lost over 20 pounds and I have been on it for over 2.5 months and I have lost 1-2 pounds. So, I might be right there with you on the 70 thing :001_smile:

I know it defies typical dieting logic, but it really isn't a calorie issue....it is an endocrine issue. period. No iced coffee....ever. No soda....ever. Nunca, nada, none. My body just seems to have this incredible ability to adjust to whatever I eat. I tried WW and anything natural I could. I throw up the white flag...again.

Yes, because my diet is so limited I try to add olive oil and coconut oil wherever I can (in reasonable amounts).

That may be what's messing you up. You may need to eat more. Contrary to ALL we've been taught, and programmed, I know, but I don't lose unless I'm eating metric tubs of fat. Pastured butter, coconut oil, bring on the fat. Everything I eat is a conduit for fat.

You know what? I have decided I really want to be healthy and FIT, no matter what my weight or age. I do not want to need a walker...I want to be Ble to do all sorts of active things once I have the time to do them....like when my kids are grown. I want to have flexibility and balance, I want to be able to have lots of endurance and I want to be STRONG.

Hence....spin class 2 or 3x a week, sculpt 2x a week, body pump 2x a week, walk 5 days a week for an hour yoga a few times a week...plus all other hard labor that goes on around here....

I eat as healthy as humanly possible....no sugar, no grains, lo carb, good fats...loads of veggies, wheat grass shots, etc.

I am still a fatty, but I am a healthy, strong, fatty.:D

Have you noticed your skin, nails and hair look nicer with all the fats?

I have not had hair this nice since I was pregnant. (

Yeah, that's what the last pregnancy did to me). My hair is back, and my nails don't split. My cuticles are gorgeous-they always cracked and peeled before (and got infections and ripped).

I can relate. Except in my case, I do have to be honest, I often overeat. But even when I don't eat much, weight will always be an issue for me. I'm trying to change my mindset - to be content, to exercise for health reasons, and to just focus on overall health and energy. I seldom weigh myself anymore. The scale sucks. :glare:

Congrats on your weight loss.

I have to say that this made me smile - being one hot 70 year old. It's good to have a sense of humor about it.

This is very true. :)

I have PCOS and IR, I've always been a healthy weight except I stopped cycling and my PCOS went nuts and I was packing on the lbs despite no changes in diet and exercise. I kept asking my dr for help, thinking it was my thyroid, he said I was fine. In 2 yrs, despite multiple attempts on Atkins, I put on nearly 40 lbs.

:( My most recent attempt at low carb I was on induction for a month and lost 2 lbs, which I gained back 3 while on vacation cuz I ate an ice cream cone.:glare: I finally am seeing a fertility specialist again (need help getting pg due to PCOS and endo, etc). He diagnosed with IR, cysts all over my ovaries, no wonder I can't lose weight. He put me on Metformin and my body is finally reacting normally to food, I still need to be careful, but I'm not starving myself anymore. I've lost 12 lbs fairly easily since starting Met 4 weeks ago! I'm hoping once I get things under control I can go off Metformin again, I can honestly say I gave the natural way of healing my body a really fair try and then some, but it was time to call in the big guns and get some help for me. It sucks, of my 5 siblings I'm the only one who struggles eith weight, they're all skinny and can eat everything in the fridge without adding a lb! :glare: :grouphug:

Well I feel for you. I've always struggled to diet, but never to lose the weight if I actually manage to diet! - kwim? This time I can't seem to lose weight on half my normal intake. I mean what's the point - I might as well enjoy eating!

But if you have all those allergies, I would see a nutritionist bc getting a balanced diet that way is complicated. Never mind the weight - you need to get the right nutrition. We're peanut/treenut/bean free and I'm lactose intolerant/mildly milk allergic and I find it hard to get easy protein in our family!
