momto4kings
I am slowly working on a speech communication degree, and I am finding that I am not quite prepared for all the writing that requires reasoning and argumentation. I have never studied logic or rhetoric, so I would like to do it on my own before I get deeper into the upper division communication classes. What would you recommend? I'd like something easy and accessible, perhaps a middle or high school level. Maybe even something I can hand to my high-schoolers who are attending public school now. Please share your ideas! Thanks.
Barb_
Easy logic is an oxymoron:tongue_smilie: But I believe Traditional Logic by Memoria Press is very accessible. It gets the job done, at any rate
momto4kings
By easy I meant something that is NOT a college textbook. I get those for my classes. I need something at an easier level. Thanks for the suggestion.
MomatHWTK
I like this resource: http://writingcenter.unc.edu/handouts/argument/ I've also used the "How to Argue" composition lessons from abcteach, but it is available to members only. Lizzie in Ma
Peter Kreeft's Socratic Logic might be helpful. http://www.amazon.com/Socratic-Logic-Questions-Aristotelian-Principles/dp/1587318083/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347882067&sr=8-1&keywords=socratic+logic+kreeft+3rd+edition
