Guest jamierose21
I am looking for input from anyone who has used writing strands. I am looking for my 2nd and 3rd graders and hoping to do it together. I am looking to add creative writing to our curriculum without spending more money this year. So, I was given WS 2 and WS 3, which would be more appropriate? Any suggestions? also, we just started hsing after taking kids out of public school. so curious if this is difficult to teach and if its really teacher intensive. thanks!

It is very parent directed, so you have to decide if it's that important. Othewise, you could wait until next year and do Level 3 with both (they are experience levels, not grade levels). WS always requires some parental oversight and interaction, but I wouldn't say it's teacher intensive. Each level, BTW, is a sememster's worth of composition. The author assumed that it would be part of a complete English course that included literature; he didn't believe a separate spelling was required, but that the words children misspelled in their WS assignments would be their spelling lists. You can do it any way you want, of course. :)
