Tohru Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 My 11 mo baby has top and bottom teeth and if she gets in close proximity to my 4yo dd, she bites her. She bites hard and it leaves teeth marks. The baby also bites my husband when he's not looking. She tries to bite me sometimes, but not often and I usually can stop her before she sinks her teeth in. She's only a baby so I really don't know what to do. Please help! Give me some advise as to how to stop this! I've never had any experience with a biter before. Quote
Erica in OR Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 I remember my younger sister was a big biter. My brother and I learned very quickly just to get out the area if she was going to bite. I'd find something else for baby to chew on—a teething ring, cold washcloth, pacifier, etc., make it constantly available as a redirect, and train the 4 y.o. to avoid the behavior. Some gentle no's might eventually sink in, but I'm doubtful you can really train them that young to stop chewing/biting, since it's likely related to teething. Erica in OR Quote

Erica in OR I agree with training the 4yo to not get bitten. This was dd's first lesson with ds. Never ever allow yourself to get hurt. Even now, he may fight with dd, but her and i both know that if he completely melts down, she's capable of keeping herself safe. This would only happen in the moment it took me to get there, but she still needs to know. Quote
