Picture books with beautiful *pencil* illustrations?

Recommended Posts

DS and I are learning how to draw pencil sketches using Mark Kistler's *fabulous* drawing lessons. I'd love to buy some books that have lovely pencil illustrations to inspire DS even more, and that he can imitate for additional practice and fun. We are only drawing in black and white with Kistler, so b&w drawings are great, but color recommendations are helpful too.

Pencil is our preferred medium, probably, although a good pen and ink example would also be kinda neat.

So far I have collected a few Bill Peet books (I think he is a mixture of black pen (for outlines) and pencils). And D'aulaires Greek Myths is another one I thought of (colored pencils).

Any other ideas of good pencil illustrators, or particular books?
