BrandonMommy
Hi guys! I'm in the process of long-term planning and shopping for our upcoming K year (before dc3 arrives!) and thought you guys could help me put together a list of materials and resources and things to buy for our themes: I'd like any good and fun science tools and materials, literature tie-ins, kits, videos, games, specimens, etc, etc. Anything to keep me and my little explorers learning and discovering! So any good recommendations you have for science in general and some of the specific themes below? the human body - Some Body game skeleton and bones dental health five senses plants seeds trees and leaves pumpkins rocks and soil - need a rock/mineral kit volcanoes fossils dinosaurs light discovery shadows colors (rainbows) materials magnets sink or float electricity motion seasons and weather rain snow clouds water animals life cycles (butterfly, frog) animal homes insects birds fish and oceans habitats landforms Not sure if that's all of them but enough to start planning and shopping. I'm overseas, so a lot of the stuff will need to be ordered and I'm trying to stay ahead. So far, I plan on getting more from the Let's Read and Find Out and Magic School bus series to go along with these topics and a Zoomy microscope. I was also looking at some of the related toobs. Thanks!
ErinD
Lessonpathways.com has a whole free curriculum for each grade, with experiments and lesson plans. I'm just following those for K.
Monica_in_Switzerland
I love love love Building Foundations of Scientific Understanding, grades K-2. We are using this plus the Let's Read and Find Out books, and it is going great. We just did the lesson on food chains, and we dissected an owl pellet. :-) You can buy them online.
