arcara
My dd, age 12, doesn't like the cartoon drawing style of the Draw Squad boo I chose for art this year. She's interested in more realistic drawing. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Chris in VA
I was going to use Phonics of Drawing with dd this year. It looked very good, but I never ordered it. RR has it.
Michelle My Bell
Books by Clare Leslie Walker and Claudia Nice also, I found this book: The Big Book of Realistic Drawing Secrets: Easy Techniques for drawing people, animals, flowers and nature
Amethyst
That was my dd last year. We signed her up for an art class. I talked to a couple different teachers last year and emphasized what we were looking for (realistic drawing, not just crafts) and she loves it. We're doing it again this year. watertribe
Try Artistic Pursuits. I just ordered it for my son. I haven't used it yet but there is a lot of good comments from people on this forum. THey have a program for each grade. I am starting my son with the Junior High Book 1. You can see samples on the Rainbow Resource site (they seem to have the cheapest prices too). You do still have to buy all the supplies, but there isn't many for the first book. arcara
Thank you for all your suggestions. They have given me a lot to check out. Hopefully, we will be able to find something to her liking. She really likes to draw and does quite well for the little bit of instruction she's had. KarenNC
I like the looks of this program http://www.alienthink.com for drawing realistic human figures. The first 19 lessons are free online. I'm planning on getting this at some point for my 12 yo daughter. She's currently focused on manga-style drawing, for the most part, so it will wait a bit.
