Dd's MRI/MRA results

Recommended Posts

I just heard from the nurse with the results from yesterday's scan. Her brain is clear - ie. there are no tumors! We will still follow up with the neurologist in November because she does have the tumor in her eye that needs to be watched. And she does have headaches. The nurse said that if the headaches are a problem before then, that we can make an appointment with the pediatrician. But then she told me what they tell patients to do to treat migraines and it is exactly what we've been doing all along. (NSAIDS, rest/sleep in dark room, some caffeine). So - a huge, huge worry off of our mind.

Dd gets migraines, some are hormone induced, so you are coming up on that...

When she is about to get a headache, she sees lines/auras very shortly before the headache hits. I literally run to make instant coffee (have it on hand), give it to her w/ibuprofen, and then try to get her to bed before it hits. That lessens it quite a bit. If we don't get her to bed quickly, then I will be up hours waiting for it to go away.

Its probably 50/50 that the tumor causes the migraines..... my dd's eyes have been checked (no tumors) and she still gets the migraines.

Amen! Good news. Hopefully it dissolves so the headaches disappear.

Actually, the headaches are most probably not connected to the tumor in her eye. If they were connected with a tumor it would have been with one in her brain - which she doesn't have.:001_smile: So the headaches are most likely just headaches for some other reason.

The tumor in her eye is there for life. We just need to monitor it to make sure it doesn't grow but it isn't a kind that tends to grow, so that is a good thing.

That's great news for the MRI.

:grouphug: for the migraines. My dd11 is starting to get them too. Lately, I've been having her drink Gatorade when they start (per Dr.'s rec.). The Gatorade seems to prevent about 2/3 of them!

I've been giving my dd an electrolyte solution similar to Gatorade. I'm thinking of upping her magnesium intake. Magnesium is an electrolyte so it is in the electrolyte mix but she may need more of just the magnesium.
