I plan on his taking one of them every year until he takes it "officially" in his jr. year. My question is should I start with SAT or ACT? Does it matter? regentrude Posted September 12, 2012 Share Posted September 12, 2012 We started with SAT in 7th grade. The problem on the ACT is the science section. You don't have to actually know the science content, just interpret paragraphs and data, but having some background in high school science is definitely helpful - if you understand a little bit what is going on, analyzing the info is much easier. Yes, it is considered harder, but it tests intelligence more than content learned, imo, and that was easier for my younger dc who hadn't yet had high school material. fractalgal Posted September 13, 2012 Share Posted September 13, 2012 We chose the ACT this year for my daughter for 7th grade. We purchased this to help her prepare. I don't think it matters at this point which you choose, but I do plan to have my daughter take the SAT next year in 8th. That way she will have experience with both.
