jec3113
Gotta vent. We are two months into the school year and still on lesson 1 of History Masterminds. There is very little in the way of instruction for the student or the teacher. I wish I had known before the purchase that I would be spending hours trying to figure this out. Yes, I know there is a Yahoo group and no I do not find it helpful. Some woman actually made a comment about how wonderful it is b/c it points out all our sins and shortcomings therefore making all of us have to think. WHAT???? Todays struggle is that my kid is supposed to mark a map and fill out a questionaire on Hanno. Well, guess what? Apparently Hanno wasn't important enough to write about in ANY reference book. I was really hoping that I had found something to carrry us through the high school years. Anybody have any suggestions?
Tenaj
I don't know if I hated it exactly, but we had the same problems. My kids really liked the program but it drove me insane trying to find resources for it. The high school programs are better because there is more information written at their level but for History Makers I kept having trouble finding the information that was written at a level my middle-school student could understand. We abandoned it fairly quickly.
jec3113
Exactly! Our library system has very few of the books. I am driving myself crazy trying to find resources and we own enough books that it should not be a struggle to find information on anybody! LOL I cannot afford to scrap it at this point so I need to figure out how to make it work for the year. But I am just at a loss.
jec3113
If you have the time to search out resources and essentially write some of the curriculum for your kid it would be great. I don't. I work in addition to schooling two kids and I need everything laid out for me. When I purchased it, every time I asked a question about how it worked, I was told "It's all in there." That should have been a huge red flag for me. I need something that is all in one. This really isn't it. Now I need suggestions for next year I don't think we can stick with it long term.
