Apologia elem Botony-light hut?

Anyone make this light hut? What kind of bulb did you get? I bought a spiral flourescent bulb that is 13 w but equals 60w regular lightbulb. Am I going to set our box on fire using this?

We made the light hut. We had bought a kit (the one that cbd.com carries), so it came with a flourescent light bulb. I don't remember the wattage on it. Anyway, we built the light hut, but then decided not to use it. Dh and I weren't comfortable leaving a lightbulb on inside a box 24/7, even if it was a cooler flourescent one. We have lots of sun year-round, so the light hut wasn't really necessary. But since we bought the kit, I kind of felt like I had to do all the activities to make it worth it.

We made one earlier this year. We used the bulb that came in the Apologia lab pack from Homeschool Science Tools. I don't remember the wattage, but you can check the website. Worked like a charm and there were no fires. Have fun!

We used an ordinary light bulb (did this about 5yrs ago)and it never set fire, burned, or singed the box. We turned it off at night though because it was in ds's bedroom. The plants grew great. I will be making another when dd does this book.

That's what we used, and it didn't set anything on fire. Have fun!

We used the spiral bulb, too. No problems. . .unless you count DD continually having to be reminded to water her plants. :glare:

We used a regular bulb and it worked splendidly. The box was only warm inside, never hot.

You can use a fluorescent or regular bulb and it works great! Stuff grows like crazy!
