JenC3
We started school 8/22 and I'm not enjoying this year at all. We have reviewed Latin, but have yet to get going on a new chapter. I haven't started Greek with Ds and I have yet to figure out Spelling Power (only looked at it once) and History is not getting done. Things we are covering: Math, Writing, Grammar, Reading Lessons, Handwriting, and Science. There is no joy, just constant harping and discipline on my part. Ds has always been difficult and he is a perfectionist so he gets freaked out if EVERYTHING he does isn't right the FIRST time. Dd is distracted. She would be happy to play piano all day, read, play ride her bike, roller skate, got to ballet. ANYTHING but schoolwork. She is compliant, but will disappear if I'm occupied with something else. Dd2 threw a massive fit and refused to go to preschool this morning. I went ahead and took her, but she told the teacher she wasn't coming back and then cried for me to take her home. I did and she has been okay, but I think she just wanted to go play outside since her siblings were running out the door right as dh was taking her to school. She has been in school since the 22nd as well and has not shed a tear about preschool and loves it. I'm 8 weeks pg and worried we'll lose it at 9 weeks like last year and I just want to move on and either know we're having another baby or not. I just want to register everyone for school! Problem with that is we are in a horrible school district. We didn't care when we bought the house. If we go private we'd be paying $1,500 a month. Part of me just wants to move. Ugh. I love being with my kids, but I just feel like this year is going to be a bust. Thanks for letting me vent, I'm not sure what to do except call a substitute Mom! scrapbookbuzz
Well, I'm not pregnant but can totally relate to the not wanting to do this feeling. Sadly, I have no good advice as I'm not sure what to do either BUT at least you know you're not alone in this!:tongue_smilie:
Canadianmumof5
I just posted on the K-8 board recently that I am happily being a slacker right now. I've dropped Latin & French from our (my) terribly ambitious plan at least until the new year. Science, history, art appreciation, & music appreciation are all going to be "taught" via books they can read on their own and DVDs. I haven't signed them up for any extra-curricular activities (piano teacher comes here so that is easy), and I'm not sure that I will even go to our bi-weekly homeschool group. This momma is tired and sometimes you just have to be a slacker for a while  Be kind to yourself. :grouphug:
justamouse
:grouphug::grouphug: Keep it to the basics. The perfectionist has to learn it's OK to make mistakes. That's the only way you AND he will find peace. I have a few of them, too :grouphug:.
AK_Mom4
I need a substitute today too. I've come down with a bad cold and can't even understand the answers printed in DD11's math book, let alone follow the questions she is asking. Grrrr. I'm taking to my recliner with a blanket and some tea while she does science and history. That way she can talk at me and I can nod my head blankly..... This pg already feels so weird and yucky. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Dh said he is going to help out more. He works from home.
