Are replacement Kindles new or refurb??

My beloved Kindle died. It was still under warranty and Amazon is replacing it for me, but they said they did not know if it would be new or a refurb.

 

Since the replacement's warranty will only be for as long as my original one which will end in a couple months I'm hoping that it is new. If not, anyone here with a refurb one have any problems?

We replaced my ds's Kindle in the spring - I couldn't tell if it was new or refurb'd, but it worked just fine.

I got a replacement and it looked brand new but I have no idea.

DS2 has had 2 replacements. The first one had the same problem the one we returned had. The second one worked. We have no idea whether either of them was brand new or refurbished.

We had to order a replacement while still under warranty. It was a refurb. The back of it is loose.

Hmm, I guess I just have to hope that it works well enough to last. I was hoping this one be be good for at least a couple of years, but it didn't even make it through year 1 and if it stops working in another 9 months it won't be under warranty. That kind of stinks.

I got a refurbished kindle. Had problems with two of them. Both were replaced with refurbished because it was refurbished. Made sense to me. I would have thought based on that if you got it new, they would replace it with a new one. However, based on my experience, it really depends on who you get what they tell you. The plus side is, both times they replaced it quickly. The one I have now works great. I think you can ask if the replacement being sent to you will have had previous owners. They told me how many the one the sent me had.
