Into Africa:The epic adventures of Stanley and Livingstone...appropriate?

I read it and quite enjoyed it. I would not think it appropriate for a 10 and 7 yo. There were minor things re Livingstone that, depending on your comfort level you could skip or explain. There were parts re Stanley that I found disturbing that we're more in depth and large portions of chapters would have to be skipped. For instance, he offered a younger traveling male traveling companion in trade to men for horses to pleasure themselves thinking he could over power them and escape (he couldn't - it didn't end well). That whole chapter, perhaps more, was about their capture, time in jail, and about the consequences.
