home4school Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 We have satellite now, but it always goes out when it rains somewhat hard. We were thinking about cable. It does seem for the money though, we wouldn't get as many channels as with satellite, but maybe it wouldn't be out as often. I would like to know if a tornado is headed my way, but we would never know with satellite! Thanks for any input! Kim Quote
Parrothead Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Satellite here. Our cable service has about 12 channels. I've got Dish Network now. I changed from DirectTV about a month ago. Got a better deal with Dish. I don't much have to worry about weather bulletins. Our worst weather would be a blizzard. Can't really run from them, and I keep emergency supplies stocked in the winter like I used to do when we lived in hurricane central. I've only had the satellite go out during Xtreme thunder storms. Maybe once or twice a year. Quote
home4school Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 Gosh, our's goes out all the time, rain, sleet, snow, ice, too cloudy, you name it! :glare: Dish seems to be higher here in Ga than Directv. Go figure! Thanks! Kim Quote
SusanG Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Our DirecTv used to go out due to weather all the time - with the newer dish we just got last year, though, we hardly ever lose signal. It mainly only happens now during EXTREME thunderstorms, during which time we unplug all our electronics anyway. I love DirecTv - we have the HD DVR and are very impressed with the quality and selection of channels. Quote
