Incognito
I'm looking to add a few books to our fall and winter collections. If you can keep your recs down to 2 or so per season maximum, I'd appreciate it. Only the BEST. There are so many good ones out there. I prefer text that really flows well and creative rhymes. For winter, I don't mind Christian content or Santa, but we do have plenty of that sort of thing so only if it is mind-blowingly awesome. :) To get an idea of what we like/the sort of thing I'm looking for: Winter is the Warmest Season Stick Man Is Your Mama a Llama? The Land of Long Ago Additionally, we enjoy Shel Silverstein, unexpected imaginative twists, and if it is 10ish minutes or less that's preferable but not necessary. Ok, looking forward to hearing what you have on your shelves that might fit the bill! Edited September 9, 2012 by Tjej
freeindeed
Five in a Row's booklists are our favorite picture books. :) Cranberry Thansgiving is a great fall book. Another good one is The Story of Thanksgiving.
Cinder
The links to your 2nd and 4th books are incorrect--they link to the 3rd book. For winter I like Night Tree and The Mitten.
Kalmia
These two are good for the whole year. The second one is vintage. Muth Winter It's Snowing! by Olivier Dunrea Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson Owl Moon by Jane Yolen You Can Do It, Sam! by Amy Hest Spring How the Robin Saved Spring by Debbie Oulett Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney Summer Come on Rain! by Jon J. Kathryn
For fall, my first (and only, so far) thought was Ox Cart Man. For winter, off the top of my head: The Mitten Bear Snores On White Snow, Bright Snow The Snowy Day
Momof3littles
Another vote for the Oxcart Man. It came to mind immediately. How about Elsa Beskow? Woody, Hazel, and Little Pip is cute for fall. For Halloween, The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything has been a long-time favorite. It is fun to act it out, as it is a cumulative story. Incognito
The links to your 2nd and 4th books are incorrect--they link to the 3rd book. For winter I like Night Tree and The Mitten. Thanks - fixed those.
Incognito
Great - we have some of the suggested books, but Ox Cart Man, Night Tree, and Cranberry Thanksgiving are new to me. :) I do have a couple of Elsa Beskow in my shopping cart on amazon because we like The Land of Long Ago so much. A Child's Calendar looks really nice too. I'm open to more ideas as well. Edited September 9, 2012 by Tjej

Mothersweets
We've really enjoyed these books: Autumn:An Alphabet Acrostic The author has done a series- autumn, winter, spring, and summer. They are each delightful, but I think the autumn one is my favorite.

blakereese
I love The Lonely Scarecrow. I'm not sure about the paperback edition, but the hardcover edition has lovely embossed pages. It is just a gorgeous book. I got it at the library several times before tracking down my own copy (it is OOP). Definitely worth a library search.
