kiwik
Hi. I would like to teach my son some phonetic type spelling rule as at school they do memorising ( so did I 30 years ago so I don't know the rules). The problem is that all the programmes I can find are American an obviously use American spelling which we don't. Does anyone have any ideas? It doesn't really matter for other subjects. Aurelia
Apples & Pears is British. It breaks words down into morphemes.
Stef03
When we lived in the UK my son used Letterland, the method worked great! I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing you're after but here's their website http://www.letterland.com/teachers/uk-teachers-guides

kiwik
Thanks again. I like the look of apples and pears. What level would you start on with a five year old who can read and has some basic phonetics and a mother who knows how how to read phonetically but not what the actual rules are (that doesn't make much sense but I can say that is wrong because it would say ... But not why).
MomatHWTK
You can find the Letters and Sounds Program here. If that link doesn't work, use this one to go to Phase 2 directly. Then to see other levels, enter the Phase number in your web address. Sparklebox makes support materials to go along with the above program.
