swellmomma
DD started complaining of eye pain during her online poetry class today. Sure enough under her eye was swelling up like a black eye without the bruising. Closer inspection after class revealed the start of a lump on her lower lid a little to the side of the tear duct. Sure looks like she has the start of a stye. She will be putting a tea bag on her eye as soon as it cools down enough and I have eye drops here (I always have a spare bottle in order to treat pink eye quickly since they don't have a pharmacy in town and dr office only open 3 hrs a day). Local dr is closed until Monday, and no car to go to the next town, so I get to dr her up on my own until Mon.

StephanieZ
Yes, warm compresses. 15-20 min at a time, several times a day. Most likely it'll be all well on its own before you get to the DR. Be sure to use a clean washcloth each time.
shanvan
I get them off and on b/c of dry eye. Besides warm compresses I like to use eye drops like thera tears throughout the day to keep the area well lubricated and help prevent further irritation. MariannNOVA
The warm compresses will definitely give her relief. DS had one when he was little that was so stubborn, he had to be put on antibiotics.

Jen in PA
Agreeing with the warm compresses. Years ago I was told to make them as hot as I could tolerate it, but DD gets better pretty quickly using ones that are just warm.

It should come to a head and pop or just disappear.
