ABQmom Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I'm getting ready to make my timeline from about 1600 to 1800 AD (early modern times). What would you suggest I make the increments? Every 10 years? 20 years? I want to make sure we have enough room for everything. Quote
Chris in VA Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 It's not so much the increments, it's more how much actual space do you have between increments? Is this a wall timeline, or a book? Quote
ABQmom Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 It's not so much the increments, it's more how much actual space do you have between increments? Is this a wall timeline, or a book? My timeline is half sheets of cardstock taped together on the back. I have the timeline drawn the middle. It is hung across my wall. When we study someone, I google an image of the person/event and we add it with the date. I like it because it is small, easy to put together, and easy to maintain throughout the year. I have not been using the same time spacing. For ancients, I drew a tick mark for every 1,000 years. Around 1,000 BC, I started doing every 100 years, and around 1600 AD, I started doing every 20 years. I saw the thread debating this way of doing it. For me, it works best this way. I think right now, that I have about 2 inches between the tick marks. I don't mind making the years between the marks less--every 10 years for instance, but I don't think I want to change the spacing. So, my question remains, how many years should I space for early modern history? (Timelines are hard for me to explain via writing, so I hope this all makes sense.) Quote
