Jeannie in NJ Posted September 7, 2012 Share Posted September 7, 2012 we had carpets left in 2 rooms, rest of house is hardwood. Last night I took up the carpet in upstairs year round sunroom. It was only 5 years old and very good quality carpet but so gross underneath. There were plastic bags and razors that installers had left underneath and stains had gone thru into the pad. The floor underneath is fiberglass. I am pretty sure that we are going to put pergo in there. Now one more room to tear up that carpet. When we buy a new house, all carpet is going. After seeing what I sweep up every day (with and now without a cat) I can honestly say that wall to wall carpet skeeves me out. I just imagine it holding pounds and pounds of "stuff". wendybird Posted September 7, 2012 Share Posted September 7, 2012 We are in the process of removing all the carpet from our house and I was so grossed out by the dust and hair that somehow worked under the carpet! brandigirl Posted September 7, 2012 Share Posted September 7, 2012 The apartment we are renting now has carpet and I hate it since my preferred method of cleaning is sweeping or vacuuming and then mopping repeatedly with different towels and boiling water. swellmomma Posted September 7, 2012 Share Posted September 7, 2012 I think carpets and any animal or child don't mix. I was shocked when I ripped out the livingroom carpet and I am counting down to when I can rip out the kids bedroom carpets (not till livingroom renos are done).
