DarlaS
We seem to be switching to stainless one appliance at a time. First the dishwasher, then the washer/dryer, then the refrigerator. The big surprise for me was that the front of the fridge is not magnetic. :glare: Some stainless is magnetic if that's important to you. Bluegoat
It is interesting to me how many people don't really like stainless! I always get the impression everybody likes it but me, and this is why the people who stage houses and such are so adamant that you have to have them. I am wondering if there is a secret anti-stainless group out there dying for new homes with other colours of appliance.
Bluegoat
25 year run?! When my aunt built her house in 1955, she had all stainless appliances. Her kitchen never looked out-dated, and those appliances lasted for *many* years. I think it means 25 years as a big thing. In the 50's stainless appliances in a home was quite unusual. '50's appliances were built to last and be repairable. These days they are meant to last 10 years. In fact the reason my mom had to replace her 11 year old stove was that a part needed to be replaced, and the company stops manufacturing them after 10 years.
