AMC---as a homeschooler at a school?

Recommended Posts

I need a third cup of coffee today. Thank you for the links! But, do you mean if a local school agrees to proctor it for us, they will take care of the registration as well?

I know you're asking Kathy but this is exactly what I mean.

I have no interface with AMC at all...I signed up with the college that runs the math circles...

If you were to take it at the local high school, etc, then you just show up & pay your fee. The reg forms are for each site's contest manager to fill out, not for each individual participant. So it's very nice to test elsewhere!

Hmph. I was never asked to pay anything if I recall.

Maybe day of?

If they are proctoring for your child only, then you take care of the registration but put the person's name and contact details as the proctor.   If your child is participating with others then they take care of everything.

My kids took at Stanford U last year for AMC8, 10 and 12.   My kids name appears with "STANFORD MATH CIRCLE/STANFORD UNIV" as their school code. I would look at any math circles or tuition centers listed on the AMC location search page.  We have many tuition centers like RSM offering AMC test prep that are hosting for their students but some will take "outsiders" if they can accommodate.

If we can't find one nearby, this is where we plan to go Arcadia. How was the experience at Stanford? I'm on the Stanford Math Circle list, so hopefully will find out when it's time to sign up for AMC 10.

The parents were rather noisy at the corridor outside the room.  The proctor had to come out and request that they chat elsewhere. He has helpers in the room to help give out scratch paper to any kid who needs more.  My kids are oblivious to noise and it is the nearest test site to us so why not. Besides we enjoy the bookstore and have dinner at the food court before the AMC starts.  Parking is free after 4pm.

ETA:

My kids use their passports as photo ID for AMC10 and AMC12. A parent can vouch for their child for AMC8 but a photo ID is required for AMC10/12.
