campmom Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Anyone use this? How do you like it? What type of things are included, is this memory work from different subjects like history and science? Is there anywhere I can see samples? Also where to purchase it? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks Quote
campmom Posted September 7, 2012 Author Posted September 7, 2012 Thanks Is there a website that carries this or anywhere else to get it? Quote
MeaganS Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 As far as I know, Lulu is the only place to get it. I bought the PDF and it was significantly cheaper, especially since I had a 20% off code. There are Latin, Greek, Math, Grammar, Literature, Religion, Geography, World History, US History and Civics, and Natural Sciences. There are also some reference charts and a method for doing memorization. I found there to be lots of information to pull from. Quote
edeemarie Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 We really love this book! If you sign up to get emails from Lulu they occasionally send coupons and I actually bought mine with 15% off. I'm not sure if anyone else sells it, unless maybe you can find a used copy on the for sale boards or at Homeschool Classified. It is really worth the money even if you buy it new because there is enough memory work it in to cover a child's entire school career! Quote
Rene Austen Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 We really love this book! We really love it, too. My girls memorized an astonishing amount last year. The book also ranges the selections in difficulty which makes it easy to choose a starting place and work your way forward. It really is a very workable system, and makes it easy and painless to make memory work a part of the daily schedule. I believe you can look at a sample at Lulu. Quote
Critterfixer Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I like the book but have found a few typos in it. I don't have it with me today, or I'd tell you exactly where. So far anything I've found has been easy to correct (One of them was a mistake in the addition tables for example) but I am a little concerned as to whether I'd recognize them in the Latin and Greek sections. I did think there could be more in the history section and a whole lot more in the science section for memory work. But obviously one can't have everything! But the grammar section is awesome and the poetry was really good, and there is so much Latin. It was a good purchase for me. Quote
Eileen Aroon Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Lulu has 20% offer on any order till sept 7. Quote
GalmiBorn Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 We use it too. I bought the PDF version then had it converted into a Word document so that I could cut n paste sections into the kids memory work books without having to retype and have the font a bit bigger. I need to do better with implementing his method though. Quote
campmom Posted September 7, 2012 Author Posted September 7, 2012 Have any of you who have seen this also seen the foundations guide for cc? I have that, I am wondering if these are very similar or much different if you've seen both could you compare the two? Quote
laughing lioness Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Have any of you who have seen this also seen the foundations guide for cc? I have that, I am wondering if these are very similar or much different if you've seen both could you compare the two? Was a CC director for awhile. The 2 books are only similar in that there is stuff to memorize. CC divides the memory work weekly. Living memory divides the memory work by subject. My ideal is to take the structure of CC and use the content of Living Memory (CC is actually pretty random, imho). In fact, that is what I often do. Quote
