Hulu vs Netflix?

Recommended Posts

It depends on what you want. Nextflix is obviously better for movies, and older TV shows...but if you want to try to stay up on current TV shows, then you want Hulu. We have both, and between the two, hardly miss our Dish Network at all.

It's hard to compare them because of this. If it's current seasons you're looking for, then hulu is going to win. If that doesn't matter to you, it's Netflix hands down. We have Netflix but for the few current seasons of shows we love, we buy them from Amazon.

We did have hulu plus when we were trying to catch up on Castle a few seasons ago. I found it annoying because it was constantly buffering. We don't have that problem with Netflix or Amazon. The ads for hulu don't bother me, but it's frustrating to pay for hulu plus and still get ads. As soon as we caught up on the show, I cancelled hulu plus.

Yeah, we use a combination of the three. My kids use Netflix quite a bit, but I love Hulu. If there is a show that Hulu does not carry, and we don't want to wait for it to come on Netflix, we buy it through Amazon. Even with all of this, we are saving about $100 a month.

The only problem I have with Hulu--is that sometimes if I am watching on a laptop, the sound does not keep up with the show. I will have to pause it for a second, and then it will catch back up. It does not do it while watching on the TV, so I think it is something with our lap top...or that I am using it too far away from our router.

This.

We also have both - Netflix for movies, and Hulu for The Daily Show and the Colbert Report. Other than those two shows, we very rarely watch anything at all on Hulu.

:iagree: I like both. I find that I end up using the Hulu a bit more to watch all the cable things like Daily Show and the USA network stuff because we don't have cable, but the kids watch the Netflix much more.

Thanks for the great insight ladies.

How long does it generally take for a new show to show up on Hulu? I don't watch much tv but there are a couple USA shows I like to watch.

Most within 24 hours. There are some that the contract only allows for you to watch the shows on the computer--most of those are ABC Family shows. There are some shows that will not show up for 30 days after the air date. Some of the USA shows do this...but all that means is that you start watching the season 30 days after it actually started. Covert Affairs did this. I still watch it every week, but I just started the season late.

You can set up a queue, and when a new episode is available, it will show up in your queue.
