suppleasthewind
I switched ped a couple years ago. The last pediatrician kept pushing every vaccine under the sun. We do vaccinate, but not every single one. This summer I found out that my our ped merged practices with our old ped and adopted their vaccine policy. I feel like if I switch peds again, it might be useless because they might just change their vaccine policy. I feel like just giving in. My boys are due for yearly check up and I am seriously procrastinating.
jelbe5
Just a suggestion . . . perhaps switch to a GP or Family Practice doctor. That is what we did. The pediatricians I dealt with were so pushy I finally gave up on the specialty. Our current doctor told me it was her job to ask me if I wanted to vaccinate and provide me with her opinion as our doctor but these were my children and vaccination was my decision as the parent. Score! :D
Chris in VA
Well, they can't force you to vaccinate, can they? I'd just go and stand my ground. I can see how that'd be uncomfortable, but if they are ok by your values/standards in everything else, I think I'd stay.

I have been told by a ped that if I didn't give dd all vaccines that needed caught up that he would not see dd again. Needless to say we didn't go back to him. angela in ohio
Time for a family doctor. They are much less likely to think that they own your dc.

The pediatricians here can't force you to vaccinate, but they often will not allow anyone to be their patient who has not vaccinated. PinkyandtheBrains.
We vaccinate, but I am surprised to hear a ped. would be so pushy. Our's tells us about all the optional vaccines and rarely offers her opinion on the necessity of them. I agree that a Family Practice/GP doctor might be better. I'm sorry, but I was looking to hire a partner in health care for my children. I expect the doctor to give me info and a professional opinion but not try to bully or intimidate me. :glare:
sparrow
Another vote for a family doctor. We've never seen a pediatrician, but I'm always surprised at how many appointments and vaccinations my friends who take their children to peds have and get! :001_huh:
Chris in VA
Oh, I see. I didn't think of that! I used to take the boys to a family practice--we had a ped for a short time because the fp didn't treat asthma very well. But now we have a family practice again. I like that we only deal with one dr's office for the whole family. We can see specialists if we need to, but they handle nearly everything, even my gyn appts. Sorry it's so hard to decide, OP!:grouphug:
Mom0012
Time for a family doctor. They are much less likely to think that they own your dc. :iagree: My kids are almost fully vaccinated with the exception of 1 or 2 that I have a problem with. The ped practice we were going to basically treated me like a criminal and "dismissed" me. Later, I saw their ad in the paper and it read "Your child is our child!" as if that could somehow be construed as a positive statement. That really blew my mind. Candid
I'd have my check ups with the new doctor that you were happy with and see what he says. What you heard from someone else maybe incorrect, your newer doctor might still have his own standard.
