Mommy22alyns
DH just finished reading this to the girls. He was blindsided by the end. The girls were :001_huh:. He said I should warn him next time!
woolybear
That book made me cry. :001_smile:
Mandamom
I have had to read that aloud several times and each time I have to do a lot of prepping to get through those last couple of pages.
lisabees
I threw the book against the wall the first time I finished it! It's not a typical reaction for me. :D My three year old, at the time, shared my reaction with complete strangers for weeks! DD9 wants me to read it aloud to her; I just can't muster the courage to read it for the fourth time.
QuirkyKidAcademy
My first time through was a read-aloud. Like most people, I can read silently much faster than I can aloud. My eyes scanned the page - and I burst into tears.
kolamum
Hated the ending of that book. Seriously took me off guard.
Lab1
My very sensitive then third grader read it independently! I had no idea! She cried and cried in my arms as we sat at the top of the stairs. I've been prereading books for her since! I felt terrible and she was a mess for weeks! TracyP
My dd read it when she was 7 and came to me crying, but saying it was the best book ever. After that I decided to read it aloud, and yeah, I bawled through the ending.
MerryAtHope
He said I should warn him next time! Nah, it's good for kids to see Dad's emotions too. Tough book! Merry :-)
