tntgoodwin
We are on the lookout for some new games (board or card). We want games to play with the older girls, as well as games DW and I can play with just the two of us. Any suggestions?
HejKatt
Here's a thread from the K-8 board http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/showthread.php?t=346031 It's been awhile since we played games together as a family (mainly because toddler dd would overturn the board, snag a piece, etc) but the last one I remember us playing was Monopoly with the speed dice/rules. In the Rain
One I don't often see mentioned that dh and I like to play is Quiddler. It is a card game, which makes it very portable. We sometimes play at Dairy Queen while the kids are at activities.
MeaganS
Blokus is really fun. It is kind of like Tetris, but with 4 people.
mommagruber
We love games! A favorite card game around here is Dutch Blitz and a new favorite board game for the time is called Dominion. Both are lots of fun!!!

LostSurprise
There are a lot of choices out there right now. Great question. Before I answer something vague though, let me ask a few questions. Who is the target audience? Just your little ones? Whole family? Just adults? Two player (mom and dad)? Some other combination? Also, what kind of games do you already enjoy? We game a lot. Its my husband's primary hobby right now. But there's a big difference in games which work for young ones and which work for adults. For instance, Animal Upon Animal is a balancing game which works well with young children or parents and children. Yesterday the older children played a cooperative fire fighter game called Flash Point. DH and I played Archaeology at the park on Sunday while watching the kids play. A more complex game with friends might be Dominion (a card accumulation game) or Stone Age.
LucyMcGillicuddy
We just ordered Tsuro, along with a couple others. I hear good things about it. I saw Wil Wheaton play this on his web series TableTop and shocked my husband when I said "We need to get this game." (It's usually him saying we need to buy a game.) I really like that it's easy to learn and doesn't take forever to set up and play like some of the other games in our collection. My in-laws enjoyed it and it was a nice change for all 7 of us to be able to play a "board" game together since you can have up to 8 players. As an added bonus, we like how the pieces feel. I hope you enjoy it and the other games you picked. :001_smile:
LostSurprise
We were watching Tabletop last night and I joked that they were going to become the Oprah picks of the board game world (they even have a connection with Target and a sticker on the games they do). DHs cousin, who have always had limited board game interest, bought Gloom after watching the show. :D
Baseball mom
5 Second Rule is a fun fast trivia game
MAIMOM
Some of our favorites: Carcassonne :iagree:. We love this game. It is different everytime you play it and you can play simple when playing with younger or use strategy with older players. My kids love it. My family combined two sets and used to play with 10 around the table night after night in summer.
PinkyandtheBrains.
I am not sure I would classify it as a quality game....but if you don't mind potty humor my boys love the card game Poo. Yes, it is about poo flinging Monkey's. There is non stop giggling and laughter when they play it. It is a fast paced card game. :tongue_smilie: (p.s. I didn't buy it for them....)
