ThePW
Does anyone have a suggestion for field guides (trees, birds, flowers) for Europe? Have you looked on Amazon? you might want to try Amazon.co.uk, of course the shipping will be a little more. Or you could try google.co.uk and see what you can find there on the internet. BugsMama
I've got a bunch wishlisted, but I am pretty new to nature guides in general, and they don't have many reviews.... Can't. Make. Decision. Without. Reviews!
Rasa
Europe is quite diverse -- the climate in Scandinavia is very different from that of the Mediterranean region. I would look for guides focusing on specific regions / countries. (To give you an example, I happen to own a 158-page guide called "Medicinal Plants of Lithuania.") Good luck! Monica_in_Switzerland
I just asked this question on the bilingual board a couple weeks ago- http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/showthread.php?t=410213 If I recall, you are in Germany? I imagine the suggestions for Switzerland would probably be pretty good ones for you as well.
Monica_in_Switzerland
We got the Delachaux ones and they are pretty hard core- very nice but pretty "dense" for my kids ages. I also got the smaller *70 common insects* type ones by the same publisher for wildflowers and birds, and these are much more manageable for my kids. mumto2
We are in the UK. I have a variety --like RSPB for birds. I think several are by Collins. The laminated cardstock ones that they sell in gift shops are really handy. They have just the basics. Pictures of roughly 25 types of whatever with good descriptions. I bought one at Kew gardens for fossels a couple of weeks ago. I think it was £4. We tend to pick these up when we are at educational locations. That way we can really look at them first. They are handy. Generally good enough.
