AllBoys
I am still trying to find a science program for my 8th grader. He used BJU last year and doesn't want to use it again. I asked him what he wants and he said he wants something really deep, with a lot of information, more facts and less fluff. We were planning on earth science and he is particularly interested in astronomy. I am wondering if he needs something more on a high school level. I would appreciate any suggestions/advice. Thanks! Guest slockwood
I have heard good things about Apologia. :)
Riverland
We did Apologia Astronomy a few years ago when my dd was upper elementary. I think it might be too light for an 8th grader wanting to go deep. But, maybe one of their higher level books contains a section on astronomy? I would use an introductory college text. We found these an excellent source for high school science. (For most subjects, I'd use a text geared towards non-majors) Astronomy Today by Chaisson is a great standard text your son might like. (Get an older edition used; the new editions are always prohibitively expensive)
