Twilight Woods
DD is about to start map 8. For those that are at higher levels what books are appropriate at this level? I dont see anywhere on the site where it shows what level she should be reading at this point.
sewingmama
When my kids were on map 8 they were reading at about k-1st grade level -is that what you mean? Basically they were still reading at the CVC level.

La Texican
We did reading eggs & the first books my son would read was a series called Fly Guy. Are you my mother? by PD Eastman was the first long book he read. I bought the outdated version of hooked on phonics on clearance so I had a stack of cvc books. I told him he could write his name in the front of every cvc book he read. That was very motivating.
momma2three
That's about when DD could start reading some of the simpler Level 1 type books. There's a really wide range between the various different publishers' levels, so check them out before you buy them. A few of the simpler Seuss books, too. greenbabybottoms
My dd is on level 8 right now. She is reading Dick and Jane books, some Dr Seuss (hop on pop, the best nest, go dog go, the cat in the hat) and another level 1 series that we found at our library. They are older (maybe early 90s) but she enjoys them.
