3 Only Children
http://www.neok12.com. I finally took the time to explore this website today and was really impressed. Covers all the grades, has tons of short videos, games etc. for Math, Science, History Geography and English. The one for grammar for instance, had about 2 dozen videos of a teacher talking about one thing only, such as "What is a verb?" I can see it being a great supplement with just the right amount of information. So my question to all of you is how do you organize your lesson plans so that it includes online supplements? And if anybody uses this particular website I would love to hear your comments about it. Thank you!
cschnee
I posted about this website awhile ago because I think it is fantastic. I love the video clips and the games as well as the ability to create a presentation out of the photos they have.
Halcyon
I plan my kids' schedules in excel, andadd in videos to the schedule. I use youtube too. I only do it for difficult or interesting topics, however.

It would be a great tool, as long as I can figure out how to use it. =]

Wouldn't that be lovely!
cschnee
You don't have to sign in to use You Tube. You just type in the name of the video you want and if someone has put it on You Tube, it will be there. For example, last year we watched the entire BBC series The Great War on You Tube. I just looked up the order of the episodes on Wikipedia. When we are studying a certain topic, say for examle, the water cycle, I just go into NeoK12, or Brainpop, or Top documentaties to see if there is something on the water cycle. MomatHWTK
I use an Excel spreadsheet to plan. For weblinks, I put the link right into the day's schedule. Does that make sense? For general, "see this website" links, I list them under the appropriate subject matter heading on a separate Resources list. I also keep my current printable resources in separate folders in my larger document folder on my computer. For links that I know I will use frequently, I create a shortcut and then place the shortcut in the applicable folder. So in the "Math 2012" folder, there would be a shortcut to the website for the textbook we are using. Learning.com allows you to create an account and then create your own curriculum assignments, including weblinks. So if I want one of my "students" to visit a website outside of Learning.com and view a video, I can enter it as an assignment. But I find that a bit cumbersome because you have to enter each assignment individually. I'd rather just use the links in my spreadsheet document. 3 Only Children
I like how you have organized it on your computer, sounds like a well thought out system, thank you for sharing it with me. Alas I don't have Excel so I will look into the learning.com. I'm home-schooling one child so that might be the answer I was looking for. MomatHWTK
If you want to try an Excel-like program, OpenOffice is available free. Or you could just copy and paste all your links into a word document. ;)
