MI Mom
Several years ago, I am talking maybe 18 years ago, we had our hardwood floors refinished and they still look good. The man that did it worked at a school as a maintenance man and had access to a gym floor finish. My parents are now wanting to refinish a room in a rental they own and would like to use a gym floor finish. Does anyone know of a good product? Thanks, Audra
Tammi K
I asked once (a long time ago) and was told the closest thing available non-commercially was like marine varnish - the stuff used to protect boat from serious weather.
Joshin
They use a high-gloss urethane varnish, applied in several coats so it develops a thick layer that protects the wood beneath but is glass-like on top. I ran a quick Google search, and it appears several companies sell different versions of "gym floor finish urethane" online. Not sure if it's really any different than the stuff you can get at a home improvement store. The trick could be in the application.
