frogpond1 Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 We also use Memoria Press' Wall Charts- the blue ones to chant from. We do a time of chanting, the weekly lesson. They do the lesson page in the book and then work on an activity page a day and do their recitation chants at home and on Friday they take the Quiz at home. The hardest part is correcting the books since they have to go back home after class. I may be copying off the quizzes this year and having them turn their copy in so I can check their progress. I haven't worked those kinks out yet. We take time to correct the exercises in class and lots of times the kids love writing the answers up on the white board. We play vocabulary games on the white board, but I'm most interested in teaching them to chant their words and grammar. Quote

I hadn't thought about the Quizes needing to be graded etc. What kind of vocabulary games do you play? THANKS, Dorothy Quote
frogpond1 Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 where I write the Latin words up and two children stand at the board with flyswatters. I call out the English and they swat the correct Latin word. They get 3 words and then rotate to the next student on the team. We also play a game we call dueling where students have stacks of vocabulary cards and they stand back to back and I count "1,2,3... draw," and they swing around and face each other and show their flash cards. If the other member can give the correct word or definition depending upon the way you are playing the game then the other person misses. If they cannot get the correct answer they get a hit. Three hits and you are out. The last player standing is the winner. It is fun to watch and they get really excited. Quote
