babybryte Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 I recently bought the blue My World Science teacher's guide and student pages. I love it!! I am so disappointed that it's not published anymore. My question is this: Is one guide (3 units in each guide) supposed to last one year? Or are you supposed to do several guides per year? If I only used one guide a year, I would only get to do one lesson a week. Does that sound right?? Thanks so much for any help!!! Blessings, Jacquelyn Quote
LanaTron Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Each unit is intended to last three weeks, with optional assignments at the end of each unit. So, yes, that means one lesson per week. We do MWS four times a week, for 15-20 minutes each time: Day 1--Read and discuss main text; oral or written narration Day 2--Additional reading (Kingfisher for my olders, Usborne for the youngers) Day 3--Worksheets Day 4--Activity We did MWS blue last year. I especially loved the weather and astronomy units; my 8 yo told me the other day that he really loved the oceans/coral reefs unit, but he's an animal-loving kind of guy. Now we are starting MWS red, and doing the African savanna unit--so far so good! Have fun! Quote
babybryte Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 Thanks so much!! That makes much more sense! Hopefully, I will be able to find some more MWS guides within the next year. Thanks again! Jacquelyn Quote
