katilac
The counters in my kitchen are a very light peach color. We are going to pull down the wallpaper and paint, and I'd love to downplay the peach tones in the counter top. Any good colors for this? Any to avoid? Thanks, free decorating advisors! kroe1
To tone down peach wouldn't you use something on the opposite side of the color wheel like a light purple or light blue? I'm no color expert. :lurk5:
Candid
We had very pale yellow counter tops in our old house. The smartest thing we did was match the wall color to the counter tops. It was very pale and by both being the same it read more white. Don't know if that would work for you.
scrapbabe
To tone down peach wouldn't you use something on the opposite side of the color wheel like a light purple or light blue? I'm no color expert. :lurk5: I wouldn't do this because on the the otherside of the color wheel is a complimentary color... it will make it stand out more. They might look good together, but it'll definitely make the peach stand out. I would get a ton of paint chips at the store, in every different color and see which one mutes out the peach the most. NanceXToo
This site: http://www.ehow.com/list_6965046_paint-colors-go-peach.html suggests "cool colors and neutrals" to dilute the effect of the peach color. It suggests white, sea green, blue (esp light blue), or a sand color.
ktgrok
We have a peach counter in the bathroom. A neutral light color seems to help it "blend in" better. We have an off white/light beige wall in there and that works.
katilac
Thanks, all! After carefully considering all the advice, we have decided that the best way to tone down our peach counters is to rip those suckers out. We have a galley kitchen, so the lack of counter space means it won't be that expensive :001_rolleyes: and I want to add some bright color accents, which just doesn't work with the whole 'downplay the peach' thing. We are finishing our bath reno this weekend and moving straight to the kitchen. yes, we have lost our minds . . .
LostSurprise
We have peach counters and pinkish/peachy fixtures in our bathroom. A sandy beige helped wash it out. I rarely notice the color anymore (wish I could say the same about the tub, but a wall of bright red helped that).
