Saxon Math One

*Hmm, maybe it is all there...seems some of it is buried in the workbooks. I will keep looking and see what I see.

OKay...I got all the stuff (so I thought) that I need for Saxon math One. I was told the workbooks/fact cards/masters kit was complete, but didn't double check. As I am planning today, it appears that I am missing quite a bit.

1. The workbooks sound more like ps supplies (mentions homework, note to parents, etc...is this the right book?)

2. I can't find numbers that line up for the fact cards (ie, asks for A 1.2 and I see nothing wit that notation)...it should have that number/notation somewhere on the sheet, right?

3. A bunch of Masters are definitely missing.

My question: If I buy this set: http://www.christianbook.com/saxon-math-student-work-fact-cards/9780939798810/pd/81612?item_code=WW&netp_id=155067&event=EBRN&view=details

It should have what I need, right? Or would I be better off buying form the publisher, even thought they are more expensive?

Thanks!

I have been given all of my teacher's guides from people, and I always buy the student sets from CBD, like you linked. I think K is the only one that has the masters in the IG. We don't do their meeting book, so I don't want to speak for that part.

Sorry, I was on my Kindle in the last post and don't like to type a bunch on there. ;)

I just looked through one of our Saxon 1 workbooks and it did have a note from the teacher, oral assessment forms, homework forms, etc. You may have the right ones.

For the fact cards, I think they are organized by color and the fact sheets (speed drills) are by numbers.

I don't know how many masters it has. I have some large number cards here and an apple divided in half.

I think you may be able to get by without buying a new set, but if you do, definitely order from CBD.

Masters are mostly in the workbook (I know the apple one is at least one exception). For example Master 1-35 (randomly chosen #) would be before the Fact Sheet (speed drill) for Lesson 35.

A 1.2 is a Fact Sheet (speed drill); this label appears under the name line near the top right corner. All of these are in workbook. All of the sheets called 'A 1.2' are exactly the same. These are placed in the workbooks with the appropriate lessons. You only need to pay attention to that label if you plan on recording the speed drill results.

I think it sounds like you have the right things. I have never bought straight from the publisher, but always use CBD or RR and the packs have been very complete. Saxon 1 is organized a bit differently from K, so that may be causing the confusion. As a pp said, the masters are interspersed among the workbook pages right in with the lessons that they are used for. The codes are for the fact sheets (I never really understood why the codes are there, though), and the flashcards are color coded. The first half of the first student workbook is all stuff that would only be used by a classroom teacher, don't ask me why its included in the homeschool kit!
