No, but I purchased the book last year because it was highly recommended by the headmaster of our local classical academy. I don't follow everyone's recommendations (because I'm kind of a stinker), but I respect him.

He also recommended Gombrich's A Little History of the World, which I promptly purchased as well. Terrible addiction. Of course, he liked CHOW, too.

These give me some options for when we cycle back through.... You will have to beat the history cycle out of me, it seems.

My 8 year old listens to SOTW over and over again and loves Our Island Story. I too bought A Little History . . ., but so far, my son has not shown much interest in it. Perhaps I'll have to "borrow" it from him. I enjoy reading CHOW aloud as well. We never end up including it in our daily readings, but I read from it at night for bedtime reading sometimes.

So far, this sounds interesting, and I like the reader's voice.

Has anyone here read this?

No, but I am planning to buy the text. Ambleside online used this book in their previous schedules. I believe some folks still substitute it at the higher levels instead of Birth of Britain because BoB is challenging.

Thanks for sharing that you are enjoying this! I didn't realize it was on Librivox.
