somo_chickenlady
What books do you suggest for an 8th grader? My cousin is a teacher, and she suggested The Book Thief, so that will be our first book which I will use as historical fiction. I know that I want him to read a biography, mystery, etc, but I'm not sure exactly what. I think our next book will be A Wrinkle in Time b/c we have that book on hand. Any suggestions? Walking-Iris
I put together reading lists (read aloud as well as independent reading) using these books and websites as resources: The Well Trained Mind The Read Aloud Handbook Books To Build On The Educated Child Ambleside Online (website) NPR has a Backseat Book Club that has wonderful selections. We're using Arrow guides from Bravewriter as read alouds. Boomerang is the guides for older students. You could also pull from the list of Newberry award winner books.
