Iskra
There are so many different story collections/treasuries/storybooks floating out there. What is the best one to buy for a K and 1st grade kid to enjoy? Is there one with particularly beautiful illustrations? Is there one recommended by SWB (Susan Wise Bauer)? thenichols
I went to the library & grabbed all of them. & then bought the one with the best pictures. ;) Target also has one in the dollar bins, that is surprisingly good. :001_huh:

Joules
Is there one with particularly beautiful illustrations? I think Unwitting Wisdom is beautiful.
serendipitous journey
We have The Classic Illustrated Aesop's Fables, which has illustrations (and retellings) by many different artists, and suits quite well. I read it out loud to my 6-yo and my toddler, and both are interested (it helps that the fables are short!)
Walking-Iris
I prefer the one illustrated by Milo Winter.
kubiac
We have The Classic Illustrated Aesop's Fables, which has illustrations (and retellings) by many different artists, and suits quite well. I read it out loud to my 6-yo and my toddler, and both are interested (it helps that the fables are short!) Love this one. We also have the Jerry Pinkney, which is nice, but after the luxury of illustrations on every page in the Classic Illustrated version, it felt spartan. Homemama2
I think Unwitting Wisdom is beautiful. Wow! That is beautiful! I have the Milo Winter one and I like it. I got it at Barnes and Nobles for $4.99 (I think) for the hardback. They have that sale a lot.
kalanamak
I started with 4 and the one illustrated by Jerry Pinkney is far and away my son's fav. Several views are on Amazon.
