Another "other" here: I prefer to teach grammar via Latin, with the grammar in Classical Writing as a backup if needed. (CW recommends Harvey's for formal grammar instruction.)

I'm doing something different too. I wrote my own notebooking pages and charts to go along with the Ruth Heller Grammar Picture books because my dd is a VSL and I wanted to make it more visual for her.:001_smile:

I have used BJU, Abeka, Jensen's, and Easy Grammar. This year I am using FLL for 1st and 2nd grade and then will use Easy Grammar later.

I voted for two:

First Language Lessons has been fabulous for my talkative, artsy daughter. My son, however, did not click with it and Growing with Grammar has been a huge hit for him - very concrete and geared toward his way of thinking.

So I voted FLL *and* other.

I'm sure when Romy gets older I might have to add a third - they are just all different.

1st -Language Lessons for the Very Young by Sandi Queen

2nd- Primary Language Lessons by Margot Davidson

3rd- Primary Language Lessons by Margot Davidson - yes, it can be a two year program

4th- Writing Tales 1 (summer session), Intermediate Language Lessons by Margot Davidson

Intermediate Language Lessons is designed to be used 4th-6th, in 6th we'll use Analytical Grammar. We may use Jr. Analytical Grammar earlier but that is still to be determined.

Add in French and Latin studies as well.
