dirty ethel rackham
We had to change our cell phone plan and it will cost $30 for unlimited texting. The guy at the US Cellular store (who gave fabulous customer service) told us that there are texting apps for smart phones. Anyone use a good one? I don't need anything too fancy. I just don't want one that requires the recipient to have the same app since many people we know don't use that. Or do we bite the bullet and upgrade to unlimited texting (when we, as a family, use maybe 100 texts a month.) What say you?
mamakim
I'm bumping for you, because I'm a 2-month smartphone owner and have pretty much stopped phoning 'cause texting is so easy now that I'm not on a clamshell. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "texting app" because I had understood that the ability to text is pretty much on every cell phone. But it would be SO easy for me to be wrong about that :D. What I did want to say is that I am head-over-heels in love with Swype. Watch a video clip somewhere to see what it does. It makes texting a dream! Hoping someone can answer the rest of your question! Our plan comes with unlimited texting - there's no choice, though, or I'd have to be thinking it through like you are. We're more limited in our minutes, so we've been making the switch in our family in how we communicate.

I love Swype too. ;) But it isn't on mine so I use this one instead on my phone and my tablet. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dasur.slideit.vt.lite&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5kYXN1ci5zbGlkZWl0LnZ0LmxpdGUiXQ.. Pretty in Pink
There is a messenger app for Android phones called KIK, but both parties have to use the app in order for it to work.
