AllBoys
We are going to be staying in a small house/cabin for four days with my mom and step-father. He is in his late 80's and not in the best of health. We get along well with them and spend a good amount of time together but in small doses. I am worried about my rather, um, spirited boys. I am worried about them arguing or getting impatient or just irritating them because they are older and we will be together all day and evening. We will probably be going out and doing some hiking, rafting and other activities during the day and will be eating our meals together. If you have been in this situation I would really appreciate suggestions.
alpidarkomama
How old are the boys? Can they just go play outside for much of the time? I know my kids when we're out in the woods somewhere will barely come inside for a meal. :)
AK_Mom4
What worked really well with my *active* kiddos when we vacationed with grandparents was to do separate meals. We would "feed the kids" and then send them off to run wild while the adults had a peaceful meal and actual conversation. We also kept the kids up very late and let them sleep in the next morning, giving the adults more of a peaceful start to the day.
